Billy Connolly
Billy Connolly, eigentlich William Connolly, wurde am 24. November 1942 in Anderston, Glasgow geboren und verließ im Alter von 15 Jahren die Schule, um Schweißer zu werden. In den 1960er Jahren gab Billy Connolly diesen Beruf zugunsten seiner Leidenschaft zur Folk Musik wieder auf. Mit Freunden gründete er eine Band, in der Billy Connolly sang, Gitarre und Banjo spielte. Nach der Auflösung trat er als Solokünstler und Komiker auf, durch Fernsehauftritte wurde er auch außerhalb Schottlands bekannt.
In den 1970er Jahren begann Billy Connolly seine Karriere als Film- und Fernsehschauspieler. Für seine Rolle in Ihre Majestät Mrs. Brown erhielt Billy Connolly Nominierungen für den BAFTA und den Screen Actors Guild Award. Zudem spielte er in Last Samurai oder Fido – Gute Tote sind schwer zu finden und lieh seine Stimme dem schottischen Eichhörnchen McSquizzy in dem Animationsfilm Jagdfieber.
Billy Conolly ist in zweiter Ehe mit Pamela Stephenson verheiratet und hat 3 Kinder mit ihr. Aus seiner ersten Ehe sind bereits zwei Kinder hervorgegangen.
